Lee's Frozen (Peppermint) Ice Cream Dessert!

Lee was kind enough to share the recipe for this most amazing dessert from the last bookclub at her house. Yummy!

Frozen Ice Cream Dessert1 1/2 C. vanilla wafer crumbs (ie buy the vanilla wafers & crumble in a blender)2/3rd C. butter2 squares semi-sweet baker's chocolates 2 eggs, separated 2 C. powdered sugar, sifted 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 gallon peppermint stick ice cream (or eggnog is good too). Soften ice cream, butter 9x13 pan and cover with 1 Cup of the crumbs. Melt butter & chocolate & then cool. Beat egg yolks, add with vanilla to chocolate & powdered sugar. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour 1/2 of chocolate sauce over crumbs & freeze 10 minutes. Add layer of 1/2 the ice cream & freeze 10 minutes. Add rest of chocolate sauce & freeze 10 minutes. Add rest of ice cream , sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Cover & freeze. Note: I crumbled up the wafers first and sifted the sugar. Then I took the ice cream out of the freezer & let it sit the whole time while I was preparing the rest of the dish. By the end layer it is much easier to spread into the pan. And the batch you had at my house had the peppermint candy ice cream.
